Finals Week Five

By: Kras

With championship week tipping off in most fantasy basketball leagues, it’s time to look at five potential adds that might help you win your league. There is no shortage of players out there on the waiver wire to pick up. Even though most players available are not worth picking up, there are some players to look at if you are in need of help in specific categories. Most leagues will come down to one or two categories that you may be chasing going into the final weekend. The list below shows players that may be available in your league to help you make a run to the championship.

  • Lance Stephenson, Memphis Grizzlies SG,SF     Availability: Y=85%         E=39%

Sir Lance-a-Lot has been getting some serious run in Memphis after being a ghost for most of the season while with the L.A. Clippers. He is seeing minutes in the mid 20’s and that tread will continue to hold as Memphis is riddled with injuries. They are so thin that Stephenson has started at point guard. Over the last two weeks he has averaged 19.7 pts, 6.3 reb, and 3.4 ast with those numbers set to remain steady. With four games during championship week he is a player that is worth a roster spot if he is available in your league.

  • Jerami Grant, Philadelphia 76ers SF,PF                 Availability: Y=76%         E=79%

Grant has only seen his minutes rise with the season ending for Jahlil Okafor. He is coming back from a concussion himself but should see his minutes up around the 30’s barring any injuries. Over the Past two weeks he has averaged 11.2pts, 4.8reb, and 1.8blk over the last two weeks. With only three games next week he may be more of a streaming option for Friday and Saturday’s games if you are looking for some blocks.

  • David Lee, Dallas Mavericks PF,C                             Availability: Y=58%         E=51%

Lee has been a serviceable option ever since his arrival in Dallas. He has been a great option to stream on nights Dirk has off but the reality is Lee is playing well enough where he should be owned in most leagues. With four games next week he is a safe add if he is available in your league. While shooting 72% from the field he has also added 10.7 pts, 7.8 reb, and 0.9 blk over the last two weeks. He is worth holding for now, just keep an eye on Salah Mejri to maybe steal minutes.

  • Shelvin Mack, Utah Jazz PG                                        Availability: Y=55%         E=34%

Mack is putting up some nice lines as of late and will be a viable option during championship week in fantasy playoffs. He has turned in 2.4 3s, 16.7 pts, 4.9 reb, 7.9 ast, and 1.0 steal over the last two weeks with all those numbers looking good going into championship week. The Jazz have four games during the championship week of fantasy playoffs. If he is available in your league make a spot for him on our roster.

  • Elfrid Payton, Orlando Magic PG                              Availability: Y=29%         E=46%

Payton has only played in three games since his return from an elbow injury. He has also been coming off the bench behind Brandon Jennings, which could change in the next few games once Payton gets into a little rhythm. Since his return he is averaging 10.0pts, 4.3reb, and 6.7ast. It is worth noting that he did have a triple double against the Pistons in his last game. The Magic have four games championship week, if you need point guard help Payton can be a good source of points and assists.

Good luck this week trying to get into your championship round. If you make it, these players could help you take the last step for the money!
